Wuxi Power Supply Company Launches Specialized Agent to Boost New Energy Station Protection Verification

On October 23, the State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company launched a specialized intelligent agent for grid-connection line protection verification of new energy stations, built on the “Su Dian Zhi Ban” general intelligent agent platform. The agent can complete protection verification for 12 new energy stations in its supply area with a single click, achieving 100% accuracy and improving efficiency by over 10 times compared to traditional manual methods.

In recent years, the scale of new energy power grid connections in the Wuxi area has continued to grow. New energy stations connect to the grid through power electronic converters, resulting in weak fault currents constrained by control strategies. Their fault characteristics differ significantly from traditional power sources, making it impossible to directly apply traditional line distance protection methods. Due to the highly concealed nature of related hazards and diverse characteristics, unified templates cannot be applied, and each station requires individual modeling and verification. Professionals needed to repeatedly retrieve data across multiple ledgers, extract parameters across systems, calculate system impedance, compute short-circuit currents, and determine protection adaptability station by station—a process taking at least one day per cycle.

To address this, the dispatching and control center of the Wuxi Power Supply Company led the formation of a special team that broke down the complete protection verification process for new energy station grid-connection lines into eight standard steps, including data aggregation and parameter conversion. Calculation rules and judgment criteria were codified into algorithmic logic to develop the specialized agent.

This agent can read power grid model files and production management system ledger data with a single click, accurately acquire basic information such as power grid wiring configurations, and uniformly complete short-circuit ratio calculations and protection adaptability determinations in batches. It automatically reconciles data and generates standardized reports. Power supply staff only need to select the station scope, and the agent will automatically complete data retrieval, parameter conversion, and other steps, outputting a standardized line protection verification report for one facility in 15 minutes. The agent can be activated for protection verification at any time after power grid operation mode adjustments or station expansion and technical retrofits.
