On October 24, WANG Hongzhi, Party Secretary and Director of the National Energy Administration (NEA), led a team to Guangdong for field research. WANG and his delegation held exchanges with the Guangdong Provincial Government and China Southern Power Grid on topics including new power system construction. The team conducted on-site visits to the Southern Power Grid Science and Technology Exchange Center, the National New Energy Storage Innovation Center, and the Tangxia Power Operations and Maintenance Center, gaining detailed understanding of power technology innovation, energy storage industry development, and new grid construction.
WANG emphasized the need to accelerate new grid construction and promote coordinated development across main-grid, distribution-grid, and microgrid systems, while continuously expanding effective energy investment. Energy and power safety supply must be continuously safeguarded, and the Southern region electricity market should play its role in ensuring supply, promoting transition, and optimizing resource allocation. Deep integration of energy technology innovation and industrial innovation should be advanced, artificial intelligence and energy two-way empowerment promoted, and market-based applications of computing-electricity coordination expanded to accelerate the development of new productive forces in the energy sector. Strong support should be given to key technological breakthroughs in new energy storage, diverse scenario applications of new energy storage should be enriched, and better support provided for the construction of new power systems and new energy systems.
Officials from relevant departments of the NEA and the Southern Regional Energy Regulatory Bureau participated in the research.
